How To Use The Projects Website

Find a project

There are two main ways to find project-related information:

  • Using the left hand menu Projects link you can search projects by status, date and business area as well as programme.
  • Using the main web site search facility.

Add a project

Any member of the University can request to add a new a project, using the left hand menu Requests link. The requestor must provide the following details:

  • contact details including an email address
  • project name
  • project abbreviation (code)
  • the programme the project should be added to
  • project start date
  • type of project i.e. "Standard Software" or "Basic"

Once the request has been submitted, the Projects Web Site administrator will create the project folder within the requested programme including all necessary documents based on the chosen project type. In addition the project will be added to the searchable project list. Once the project has been created the requestor will be notified by email. It is then up to the requestor to add/link the project to any relevant pages such as the programme page.

Close a project

Any member of the University can request to close a project, using the left hand menu Requests link. The requestor must provide the following details:

  • contact details including an email address
  • project code and name
  • closure date

Once the request has been submitted, the Projects Web Site administrator will check that the request is valid and if so, set the closure date within the searchable project list as requested. The requestor will be contacted by email and reminded to update any other documents relating to the project closure.

Edit project information

In order to be able to edit documents within the Project Web Site you need to be added to the Projects Web Site security group. Access to this group can be requested by the local Computer Reps who will contact the IS Support Group Service Desk.  Once security access is granted, Editors will be provided with a drive mapping for the Projects website folder. For help with Drive Mapping, contact your local Computer Representative. Projects Web Site documents can be edited with various HTML editors such as Front Page, Contribute or Dreamweaver.

Read secure project information

To read secure documents within the Projects Web Site also requires you to be added to the Projects Web Site security group. Access to this group can be requested by your local Computer Rep who will contact the IS Support Group Service Desk.

Suggest a new business area or a new programme

Any member of the University can request that a new Business Area or a Programme is added to the Projects website, using the left hand menu Requests link. The requestor must provide their contact details, and the name of the proposed new Business Area or Programme. Once the request has been submitted, the Projects Web Site administrator will investigate if a new business area or programme should be created. The requestor will be notified by email when the new business area or programme has been created.
