ABS have advised all eFinancials 4.0 customers of recent support changes to the Oracle Forms software, as noted below:-
eFinancials 4.0, which was released in December 2009 uses Oracle 10.2g Forms Server. Oracle has announced that Oracle 10.2g Forms Server will move to Sustaining Support on 31st December 2011.
As a result, the University needs a technical upgrade from eFinancials 4.0 to a version of eFinancials that runs on Oracle 11g Forms and Database.
In recognition of the investment and planning required to accommodate this upgrade ABS have agreed to continue to support eFinancials 4.0 until March 2013.
The technical upgrade will comprise of the installation of eFinancials 4.1 and any impacted Collaborative Applications which have been re-engineered for the Oracle Forms 11g platform and the re-install of all related ABS software.
In addition this upgrade will include a re- install of the purchasing module on eFinancials which will assist users in managing ad hoc purchasing and provide an improved stock purchasing interface. It will also deliver a better mechanism for viewing and reporting on purchases, and goods receipts made via eProcurement systems as its screens etc are more user friendly than the eFinancials pop module. This will hopefully support the invoice register process by improving visibility of information.
ABS are releasing eFinancials 4.1 in December 2011.
