Project to deliver Student Engagement Analytics dashboard for students, Personal tutors , school staff (student support officers)
Development of a system that aggregates data from existing sources processed through an analytics engine against algorithms that use the data to give a measure of engagement of the student and present the results to three audiences.
Analysis of previous data will be required to determine a benchmark of expected engagement for each course.
This information along with the measure of actual student engagement will be presented to each audience.
Control of access to these data will be required based a security model whereby students can see their own; personal tutors may see students for whom they are responsible; student support officers can see all students in their School.
Project was initially scheduled for 15/16 - but has been carried over in full to 16/17 as a small project
The analysis and ready access to the information in an easy understood way will deliver the following benefits:
· Students will have some measure of how they are achieving and may prompt inform conversations with their tutor when not
· Personal tutors will have a clear measure of engagement with which to have more informed conversations with their students
· Retention: early intervention for students who might be at risk of dis-engaging from their studies
· Potential; tutors can see where students may not be achieving their full potential through less engagement with their course than expected
· Compliance: the system would be one key information source for Schools to ensure that students with particular visa conditions were still engaged with their studies and would allow early intervention
