Section Five: Actions from Monthly Meeting

Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

In this reporting period work has continued on all active projects, with COM007 finally being closed. All projects have slipped somewhat but are still planned to complete this year, while it is a concern that so many projects are up to the wire this year, all project managers have been asked to highlight potential fall over into next year at the earliest opportunity. COM019 IDM Database Upgrade has completed planning and work is underway to build the DEV environment. COM015 will now be significantly descoped. THE EASE integration issue cannot be resolved, the project team and project sponsor have agreed that a separate authentication solution is needed for Crystal reports as there is a dependency for RMAS here. All other scope will be removed.

Planning for next year has been delayed until later in June to allow more time for the final additional project proposals to be completed.

Achievements in Last Period

  • Identification of potential authentication solutions as alternative to cosign based approach.
  • Discussion with Influential about feasible options in the timeline required to deliver a crystal reports sharing solution for RMAS.

Issues

  • Behavior of EASE configuration on TEST different to DEV, and intermittent connectivity issues on the new DEV environment, led to discussion between Business Manager and Development Technology. Development Technology are now not confident of resolving the legacy issues on the platform and delivering a reliable solution using the current technology. Technical approach is being reviewed.
  • It was acknowledged that there needs to be a solution in place to deliver sharing crystal reports for RMAS ahead of UAT (Aug 2015). Head of Project Services has been alerted to this issue.
  • If delivering reliable end-user access proves impractical via EASE then that will not be delivered within the scope of this project but will be considered as part of a wider strategic approach.

Next Steps

  • Agree revised approach and milestones with Project Sponsor.
  • Deliver revised plan, focusing on solution which RMAS can use.

Report by Colin Watt for May 2015

Achievements in Last Period

  • BRD and SDS signed off.
  • Agreement on approach for public facing content (agreement to deliver this via the EdWeb distribution of Drupal).
  • Demonstrator ideas have been discussed with IS HR - a number of quick win document library candidates could be used to streamline processes.
  • Agreement with Project Sponsor that SharePoint contractor days will be used to assist design and delivery of demonstrator ideas. This may also result in some effort being reduced on the project, particularly from the ISG Development team. Phase 2 has been replanned with this in mind.

Issues

  • Project Sponsor requested some changes to the BRD (mainly summarising detail); this delayed formal signoff but had been agreed with sponsor that this should not delay design and build work. This has now been resolved.

Next Steps

  • Complete BRD and Design for Phase 2.
  • Agree work with Service Management for migrating the committees.
  • Work with SharePoint contractor and Business Lead to deliver Phase 2 demonstrators.

Report by Colin Forrest for May 2015

Achievements in the last period

  • The team have finalised the planning for COM019 and it has passed governance.
  • The Development Technology members of the team have began the analysis of the connectors to the IDM database.  This crucial task will provide the foundation for the remainder of the project work.
  • Initial communication has been made with the service areas dependent on the IDM database connection.  No major barriers to our intended deployment in July have surfaced.

Issues

  • We have had some issues where our resources are squeezed by delays (and therefore rebooking) of other projects.  So far we have successfully managed these conflicts at project level.
  • Its worth noting that this project will evolve as we progress.  For instance the team have collectively made a decision to complete performance tests in DEV to surface potential issues early.

Next steps

  • We will proceed to finish our analysis.
  • The performance tests in DEV will be completed.
  • A Build document will be produced.
