Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Programme Commentary

COM036 is continuing to cause problems with several JIRAs still being investigated and the milestones therefore being pushed further back and the effort creeping up as time is spent on addressing the reported problems. The questions around the budget will be considered by another meeting with the PM and Project Sponsor.

COM041 has had its final milestones pushed back by a few weeks as well as the final migrations are taking longer than anticipated. Similarly, COM043 has been going well, but the UAT sign-off, and the remaining milestones, have had to be revised because of delays in getting test data from partner areas. The go-live is now planned for late April.

COM044 and COM045 are both ticking over more or less as planned, with these two adhering to the scheduled milestones.

COM046 has been reported as Amber because the PM has not yet been able to devote time to planning the project brief because of his current workload.

Finally, COM048 (Serengeti) has been withdrawn for 18-19, and COM049 (EVES) is planned to start later this month,.

Achievements in Last Period

  • ExplorerSearch has been enabled and limited to 3 cores. This has allowed the functionality to be made available. CPU usage still high for search server.
  • Student Systems have agreed to look at using HTML for their Dashboard reporting instead of Flash, which a number of JIRAs were raised due to issues with Flash.
  • Closure of a number of other JIRAs relating to usability. Workarounds have been published and communicated to users. These issues have also been raised with ITelligence and SAP who have noted these as bugs that will require a patch to be released.

Issues

  • To allow Student Systems to use HTML dashboard reporting instead of Flash, a demo was carried out and resulted in some "network connection" errors.  A potential fix was identified and rolled out to DEV and TEST, then onto LIVE but had to be rolled back as it caused the new Launchpad becoming unavailable. A rebuild of Tomcat to bring Launchpad back was also required. ITelligence can replicate this issue on their machines so are progressing as a priority.

Next Steps

  • Resolve this issues Student Systems are having with HTML reporting.
  • Write closure report
  • Close the project.

Achievements

  • UAT is in progress although we have experienced delays with obtaining test student IDs for Undergraduate, PGR, PGT and Applicant records so that we can test the end to end process through the new SOA version from EUCLID to IDM.
  • Preparations for the live deployment are also in progress including a clone of the Live IDM db which will be used as a final pre-go live test.

Issues

  • As a result of the UAT delays and forthcoming leave for our lead developer, we have changed our go live date to 30th April (see PICCL Item 4 for further info).

Next steps

  • Complete UAT.

  • Complete preparations for Go Live on 30th April.

RAG Commentary
Issue - Although UAT is progressing well we have experienced delays with a specific part of our testing strategy. Due to sick leave in Student Systems we have not been able to obtain test student IDs for Undergraduate, PGR, PGT and Applicant records so that we can test the end to end process through the new SOA version from EUCLID to IDM. Impact - this has impacted on our planned go live date which we have now changed to 30th April. Plan To Resolve - this has been escalated to the Project Sponsor who is progressing the issue with Student Systems. We expect to have the testing records during w/c 4 March to allow us to complete the final part of UAT.
