Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

In this reporting period work has continued on all active projects. The long running IDM project COM007 has delivered the additional scope and will be formally closed in May. The BI project continues to be a cause for concern as configuration in EASE is not yet resolved on TEST, the project is therefor AMBER. The Windows hosting project has encountered a small issue delaying completion of integration and acceptance milestones, however this only affects a small number of sites and should not impact on the future dates.

Other project are making good progress and on schedule to deliver as planned. The programme has started an additional project from next year's programme, it is expected that the IDM Database upgrade will be completed this year.

Achievements in Last Period

  • Multi-source universes can now be promoted between DEV/TEST/LIVE environments.
  • Port changes, required as a result of troubleshooting client connectivity issues by DevTech, Service Management and Influential, have been successfully applied to DEV and TEST; (some changes are outstanding for LIVE).
  • 360 eyes 1.56.2 upgrade deployed to LIVE.
  • BI EASE solution implemented on DEV with all tools successfully connecting through new authentication route; this is a significant breakthrough with delivery of the project dependent on the new EASE configuration being in place.
  • ITI work completed on VMs and Loadbalancer for TEST and LIVE BI EASE solution, pending config by DevTech.

Issues

  • EASE configuration was changed on TEST to match DEV, however connections made did not behave as required, despite the same configuration; the TEST configuration has been reversed to previous method so that EASE logins work, pending troubleshooting and resolution; this issue has delayed the EASE config on TEST and LIVE.

Next Steps

  • Agree revised milestones with Project Sponsor.
  • Complete BI EASE integration solution for TEST/Live.
  • Complete acceptance and delivery for Phase2.

Report by Colin Watt for April 2015

Achievements in Last Period

  • Resourcing issue has been resolved and tasks assigned in Asta.
  • Project Sponsor and Business Lead have fed back on BRD and agreed for the design work to proceed, with the caveat that changes were required to the Phase1 BRD.
  • Some estimates have been revised as a result of onsite SharePoint training; the main change is in the area delivering a public interface for the open committee papers as it is no longer possible to publish from SharePoint as a result of Microsoft's change in policy on public SharePoint content; a solution has been proposed to use the EdWeb distribution of Drupal to provide the University theme; the revised estimates are expected to have neutral impact on the budget.
  • PM has discussed candidates for demonstrators for Phase2; PM and Business Lead to collaborate on Phase 2 BRD.

Issues

  • A resource conflict within Project Services resulted in delays to BRD completion and signoff of the Business Analysis stage; LMP projects are taking priority which has impacted BA work on this project; Project Sponsor and Business Lead requested a number of changes to the BRD; a revised version for signoff is expected w/c 04/05/15; prep work has already been done for the migration tool, and the delays to signoff are not currently impacting on the overall project timeline.

Next Steps

  • Agree revised timeline and milestone dates with Project Sponsor.
  • Complete sign off of revised Phase 1 Business Requirements.
  • Sign off Phase 1 Design.
  • Complete BRD and Design for Phase 2.
