Programme Commentary

The programme is 

  • DLIB003 Language Online - Dual Language for Collections - Business Gap analysis completed and project closure approved.
  • DLIB004 Digital Workflows - Goobi Implementation - UAT signed off and DNS change to deploy to Live
  • DLIB005 Procurement for DAMS (Digital Asset Management System) -  Potential suppliers identified, business requirements signed off and Invitations to Quote issued
  • DLIB006 Library Databases and Licensed Content - User Discovery and Access Analysis -  business analysis in progress and on target to complete early December
  • DLIB011 Automation of Digital Preservation Workflow for Digitisation- new project proposal approved and initiated, project planning underway

Also completed is a LUC website review this is in conjunction with the work completed internally within LUC Digital Library team for website accessibility testing. Further discussion underway to look at a small project to look at rationalisation of LUC websites, accessibility annual  testing process and possible migration of CAHSS websites for collections.

Additional project proposals being discussed : Digital Preservation System Upgrade and Collections@edac.uk Front End development / Online Exhibitions

Due to the impact of Coronavirus, SLT review of project priorities has resulted in a stronger focus on this programme of work. As such Programme Owner has submitted blue paper to ISG SLT for additional funding for FY20/21 and extra funding for FY21/22. Funding increase  has still to be confirmed.

  • Archives Space functionality Gap Analysis (WP3) complete
  • Priority ratings assigned to Gap Analysis findings by project team
  • Post-project future roadmap agreed (see next steps below)
  • Closure report signed-off, submitted and approved by WIS on 27/11; the project is now closed

Issues

  • No outstanding issues have been identified

Next Steps

  • Website development was out of scope for this project, however the Digital Library team and Tobar an Dualchais Archivists will continue to work with Primate to develop and introduce the new website.

  • Further investigation and design of potential Archives Space user interface to be continued out with this project. This includes an agreed roadmap:
    • Plans for a follow-up review meeting in January 2021
    • Further capturing of requirements from Tobar an Dualchais team as they use the new system 
    • Review of Gap Analysis with Archivists and Curatorial Staff to identify requirements for a potential cross-purpose interface
    • Investigation of potential use of Goobi for workflows

Achievements in last period

  • Handover to new PM complete
  • Weekly meeting set up between PM, BA, and Business Lead
  • Analysis work progressed, meetings with subject matter experts held

Issues

  • BA was drawn into higher priority projects with deployments (INF152 and COM051), therefore progress on analysis work was delayed. Minor milestones have been adjusted to compensate for this.

Next Steps

  • Final meetings with subject matter experts and research students to take place
  • Information needed for use cases to be consolidated, final analysis to be completed
  • Project team to compile list of recommendations from analysis findings
