DLIB011 Automation of Digital Preservation Workflows for Digitisation

Achievements in last period

• Development of additional data elements (UUIDs) delivered by Intranda
• Automation of lac-store content into Archivematica hot folder completed
• Goobi outputting correct metadata files
• Files being picked up by Archivematica, processed correctly, and flowing through to downstream systems as expected

Issues

• Outstanding question around how to structure the metadata for legacy content and whether additional metadata preparation is required before process can be expanded to include legacy content. Conversations are ongoing as additional analysis is undertaken to determine appropriate path forward.

Next Steps

• Complete final tweaks of Archivematica ingest script
• Run additional test cases through process start-to-finish to finalise and sign-off proof-of-concept
• Expand process to cover legacy content

• Issue with new automation tools installed alongside upgraded software has been resolved in coordination with third-party supplier Artefactual
• Digital preservationist run test material through newly upgraded software to refine requirements for front-end web-form

• Progress development work on front-end web form, including launch and testing
• Initiate scalability review now that Archivematica has been successfully upgraded

• Technical meeting held and background information fed through to supplier, including feedback on initial MVP wireframe development

• Continue feeding in to MVP Wireframe design, sign-off when complete
• Finalise discovery and requirements gathering with Cogapp
• Continue to facilitate the sharing of design direction information between Lewis and Cogapp
