Key Achievements in Last Period

  • EDW TEST build started. Good progress being made.  
  • Org/Hierarchy development phase complete and deployed to DEV.
  • ETL Procurement:  contract award process underway; project initiation for implementation phase submitted.
  • BI/MI Organisation RACIs “Run the Service” & “Change the service” drafts complete.   “Small Changes” workshop planned for April.
  • Funding model approved for Oracle Advanced Security Option.     

Top Three issues

  • Maintaining progress on EDW infrastructure build.  
  • Reaching ETL contract award and expediting implementation project.
  • Management of Overspend on ETL Procurement (c.30 days).  
  • Achieving project closures on DTI019: BI/MI Analysis Tool-kit and DTI022: EDW Business Engagement

The programme continues to report AMBER given the history of uncertainty around infrastructure build, and overspend on ETL Procurement. Successful completion of the TEST infrastructure build and resolution of overspend will give sufficient confidence to return to GREEN.

Achievements in Last Period

  • Clarifications to outstanding questions received.
  • Award letters issued to bidders. 
  • Commercial payments basis agreed internally - repeated annual subscription payment. 
  • Commercial negotiations begun.


  • Issue - Project forecasting overspend of 38 days against agreed budget.  This includes 6.8 days to be cross-charged to DTI005 for the start of that project.  The remaining overspend is due to greater than planned effort in assessing suppliers' bids and will be resolved at Portfolio Level.  For information only:  no SMT action required.         

Next Steps

  • Completion of commercial negotiations.
  • Project delivery.
  • Project closure.

Next Steps

  • Execute Org/Hierarchy UAT; achieve ASOR. 
  • Run “Small Changes” workshop, complete BI/MI service RACI draft.

  • Revised milestones approved by WIS 26 January 18
  • PM drew up a revised toolkit document but on consultation with other analysts working on BI there needs to be changes


  • PM had to take on 2 new projects and had deadlines for the project briefs which meant the toolkit update was delayed
  • Snowstorm and closure of university delayed the review of the revised toolkit

  • Update of revised toolkit
  • PM to reconsider milestones as redrafting delayed

Achievements in Last Period

All project deliverables have been completed and handover to the business owner is underway.   Project closure is expected to complete later in April.

Personnel changes have extended the closure date and meetings have been arranged to confirm deliverables complete.
