Report by Emma McNab for August 2017
Achievements this Period
All project requirements were previously successfully delivered, except for the migration of Bank Wizard for FPM. This migration had been suspended since November 2016, as the Supplier of FPM had been unable to provide a working patch for the 2 remaining issues in FPM v2.3.
The Programme Manager and Business Lead agreed to suspend the project, until the Supplier has delivered a working patch for the 2 remaining FPM v2.3 issues (JIRA FIN108-66). The supplier was on site in June and FPM v2.3.0.4 was installed on Dev and Test to replace v2.3.0.2. JIRA FIN108-69 and FIN108-68.
We are awaiting confirmation when it can be moved to LIVE. The project will now be closed until further information is known when a new project will be proposed.
Next Steps
Issues
Amber - Still waiting confirmation when supplier will be available to support patch move to LIVE.

Report by Chris Orrell for August 2017
Achievements in Last Period
- Dev Tech completed the set up of DEV ready for Advanced to start the upgrade of DEV to plan on the 31st July. This included: As a security enhancement Supplier Self Service moved to its own server; Two new database servers build (the second one identified as required in May) and data refreshed from LIVE. Moving to Oracle 12c database considerably more complicated than anticipated. Additionally it was confirmed that the project cannot 'switch off' TESTv4.1 and this must be maintained until go-live. This required a change in approach by Dev Tech.
- Daily team meetings have continued to progress this work. Some achievements include:-
- Installing new application server with eFin, all JBOSS and CIBRs.
- A new CIBR for Serengeti installed which required considerable set up.
- Fixing an issue with Single Sign On integration of OpenAM with EASE. It was expected to be a challenge and so an attempt to install this earlier, 4th July, was made but Dev Tech but didn’t have the time to complete it due to leave and other items being more complex. As it happens Advanced have changed the product using a parameter we required and this required considerable investigation to find the root cause and fix.
- Addressing a connection issue between University applications that use Java and Oracle 12c.
- Some testing has been completed using local urls.
Issues
- Complete hook up of CIBRs to OpenAM and EASE to allow DEV Finance testing to be completed.
- Address issues with Bank Wizard and Serengeti. Set up and test Java Webstart.
- University bespoke applications have been copied to new Finance database. These require checking, interfaces repointing and integration testing to be completed.
- University eFinanicials customisations were missed by Advanced. These will be installed w/c 11th September but are not anticipated to impact testing.
- Collate all lessons than can be learned from DEV in order to define an approach for go-live that will be trialled during the set up of TEST, while building and finalising TEST environment infrastructure.
- It was agreed to plan the upgrade for TEST using the contingent dates of 25th September rather than 4th September. This has the potential to delay go-live by an equal amount of time. To mitigate this a concentrated period of UAT is to be planned so the first full iteration can be completed quickly.
- There has been no progress from Advanced to comment upon the vulnerability scanning red and amber risks. This is being escalated with Advanced.
- Early indications are that system performance is slower than v4.1. This has yet to be investigated but is noted as a key risk that must be addressed.
- Separately Finance are performing an upgrade to FPM and this work may impact when FIN118 can repoint TEST interfaces. COM031 still to be concluded.
Next Steps
- Compete DEV set up and all testing; Integrations and Finance.
- Collate all lessons learned and update all planning documents for TEST: Dev Tech Build Document and Implementation Record, Apps Man checklists and instruction JIRAs, Dev Services integration documents.
- Complete TEST set up ready for 25th September installation by Advanced.
- Full review of project budget in light of actual effort required for DEV set up and testing. This was planned from the outset after DEV installation had been completed.
- Defining change Control Board terms of reference remains outstanding and will then need to be communicated.
- Prepare detailed plan for September and UAT and obtain commitment for resources necessary to set up TEST and start UAT.
- Review CGI security report recommendations against FIN118 project.
ISSUE: Using later TEST upgrade installation dates of 25th September (back from 4th) will impact project timing. Detailed UAT plan required to understand to what extent this can be mitigated. No SMT action required.
