Commentary

HRS070 Implement New Recruitment System - deployment sign off agreed, formal closure to be progressed. 

HRS068 R12 Upgrade for HR and Payroll - deployment sign off agreed, formal closure to be progressed. 

HRS072 HR and Payroll Annual Maintenance - milestones revised as Oracle had not released the security patches as expected. These have now been released and the revised milestones appear acheiveable. 

HRS071 HR HESA Staff Return 12/13 - design milestone achieved and revised estimate remains within budget

HRS073 eRecruitment Phase 1b - new fFunded in-year project initiated. Detailed planning will be undertaken in February.

Achievements in Last Period

  • Resolution of memory errors issue

  • ongoing discussions with Oracle regarding the sickness absence LIVE issue

  • Deployment sign off achieved

  • Transport Loans Application signed off and deployed to LIVE

  • completion/updates of support documentation

 

Issues 

  • Oracle have not provided resolutions for the service requests relating the sickness absence and V9 history issues. It has been agreed that the programme mananager and Applications support co-ordinator will monitor and if Oracle provide a fix this will be handled through support (unless it is deemed that a project is necessary to implment the changes)
  • APEX Operational documentation and handover has not been completed due to higher priority eFinancials upgrade work. This will be undertaken asap when the required Technology Architect is available.

  • Ongoing resolution of remaining LIVE issues with Core
  • Refresh of DEV and TEST from LIVE
  • Preparation for hands-on training

Issues 

  • Core have not delivered resolution for all final LIVE issues. It has been agreed that this should not delay deployment sign off as these issues will be progressed with Core by the HR Systems Team Manager and the HR Programme Manager. 
  • It has not been possible to complete testing of the BOXI universe due to conflicting resources in HR. Acceptance sign off and deployment to LIVE will be progressed under Phase 1b.

Achievements in last period:

Business Requirements Document created and approved

It was agreed at the Business Analysis Review meeting that there is a potential to deliver in a phased approach, with the changes to the HR database and application being released ahead of the rest of the deliverables.  This would allow HR more time to input data into the new HR fields.

Four Design stage meetings have been held with the key business stakeholders

The System Design is progressing well

A new Configuration Team member has been recruited to take forward a significant portion of the Build work

A development request form has been submitted to the Configuration Team manager, for another new team member to attend a training course on the new software tool that will be used to redevelop the HESA forms.

Issues

The Systems Designer has a great many other demands on her time, for example recruitment and mentoring of new team members.  This has impacted the time she has had available for project work.  Consequently, the Configuration Team Manager has advised that she should now be bookable only to 56% fte.  This has resulted in a milestone delay to the Design stage, and may have a knock-on impact on subsequent milestones.

Next Steps:

System Design to be completed and approved

Estimates to be reviewed, and project re-planned to reflect any changes

  • Phase 2 delayed by Oracle
  • Oracle Tax Year End (TYE) patches released 1st Feb, work for Phase 2 re-planned to start 11th Feb
