Issues:
  • We are still waiting for suitable dates from NHS Lanarkshire as to when the consultant can come on site to help set up the connection.

Report by Alan Gilchrist for February 2017

Vet School:
  • Four AV contractors have responded to the tender.  These have been scored by the Learning Spaces Technology team and are currently with the procurement department for approval.  Once we know who the appointed contractor is and the associated costs, we will confirm if all of the rooms can be upgraded this year.
Central Area:
  • PG Viva room has been identified as G32 in the Hugh Robson Building (old LTS offices).  Room has recently been painted bright white, so will need to be repainted to allow VC camera to work correctly.
Chancellor's Building:
  • Drawing have been created for all rooms and we are aiming to send the tender documentation to procurement during week beginning 13th March.
  • An invitation to evaluate the 4K touchscreen was sent out to the most frequent bookers of lecture theatre A, however no one responded or showed up.  The decision to go ahead with its installation was therefore made by Alan Gilchrist.
  • Minor works orders have been sent to engie for the two microlabs and SU209.

Report by Alan Gilchrist for February 2017

Achievements this period
  • Alan Gilchrist has been given administrator access to the Connecttxt service and briefly demoed the system to Lydia Crow.
Issues

Certain concerns have been noted:

  • A policy needs to be set on how MBChB will use the service (i.e. who will initiate the texts to the students, if it's an admin team, how will the clinicians inform them etc...)
  • The groups need to be set up in the system from scratch, but can be done via a CSV upload.  The group structure will be complex and the person initiating the text will need to know which specific group to send it to.
  • Need to create an opt-in form which will be sent to the students, so that they can confirm whether they want their mobile number to be used with the service.  An update details form will also need to be created in case students change the mobile phone number.
  • User account structure within the Connecttxt service will need to be created one the policy for its use within MBChB has been confirmed (first point above).
Next Steps
  • The long term future of the service is still uncertain due to the University wide project to look at a notification service.  Paul Clark and Alan Gilchrist have asked for a meeting with the Martin Morrey to discuss MVM being at the 'front of the queue' with some of this work.
