Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Commentary

During April,  good progress was made. The main highlight is the award made to FRY-IT Practique following the evaluation process done as part of MVM107: Procurement of an online application to support assessment and feedback for MBChB. This project will carry on with the contract negotiation while new projects to deploy the software and migrate data to this new platform are initiated in the coming weeks.

One new project has started this month:

The overall status of the MVM Learning and Teaching programme is AMBER due to several projects being AMBER because of either delays or overspent:

Please note that the project RAG status is following the revised guidelines: A one-page summary of the IS RAG status indicators is available on this page.

AMBER

( Remaining at amber due to uncertainties with the installation dates of several of the rooms and a reliance on scheduling in external contractors. )

Report by Alan Gilchrist for April 2017

Vet School
  • Upgrades of the 7 rooms have been scheduled as follows:
  • Lecture Theatre 1 – Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th June (Friday 16th to clear up any issues)
  • Lecture Theatre 2 – Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th June (Friday 16th to clear up any issues)
  • Seminar Room (G.01) – Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd June
  • Rooms G.02 and G.02A – Friday 16th to Tuesday 20th June
  • Rooms G.03 and G.03A – Monday 29th May to Friday 2nd June (inclusive)

SMART podiums can no longer be obtained due to being discontinued by manufacturer, so an on-site demo of the Sharp LL-S201 interactive screen has been requested.

Requests for cabling works to be carried out have been passed to the local Estates team via the helpdesk system.

Chancellor's Building
Microlabs 1 and 2

These have had temporary furniture installed in order to get them back up and running for booked sessions to take place from Monday 8th May.  The rooms have been booked out again between 23rd May and 2nd June (morning) to allow permanent furniture to be installed.  It's critical the rooms are ready to be used again on the 2nd June as there are Infection Course Exams booked in from 1pm.  I'm still waiting for confirmation on when the new exam partition screens will be delivered.

Undergraduate Medical Teaching Room

Minor Works Orders have been sent in to engie and room has been booked out from 15th to 26th June and then again from 28th June to 25th July.  Engie will look to complete all of the decoration of the walls by the 26th June to allow a high stakes event to take place on the 27th.  The remaining redecoration will then start again on the 28th June.  I'm waiting for specific dates from the AV contractor as to when they can start their work.

Board Room

Minor Works Order has been approved and dates are being looked at for work to commence.  The AV contractor has been appointed and I'm waiting for dates as to when they will be available.

SU209

Redecoration work has been completed and AV contractor should be on site during week beginning 8th May (subject to completing RAMS documentation).  I'm still waiting for confirmation on when the furniture and partition screen will be delivered.

Lecture Theatre A

Minor Works Orders have been sent to engie and am waiting to hear back regarding costs.  Scheduling dates for the work to be carried out is proving difficult due to numerous bookings within the room (some of which I've been told can't be moved).  AV contractor has been appointed and will come on-site during May to look at existing configuration and plane new work.

AMBER

(Concern over timescale)

Report by Alan Gilchrist for April 2017

Achievements

Emails were sent to Frasier Muir (CAHSS) and Colin Higgs (CSE) to check if either College has implemented a similar solution, however both replied stating they don't have hard limits automatically set for their student submissions.  The next steps are therefore to scope what's available either via open source or commercial applications and compare them to the possible solution built by Mayank in Biomedical Sciences.

Issues
  • Karen Harris is getting concerned with the timescale of this project, as workbooks will need to be amended over the summer in preparation for the new academic year.
  • A project manager still hasn't been appointed to this, so remains with Alan Gilchrist at the moment.
