Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Commentary

Programme status: The overall status of the MVMLAT programme for August 2022 is GREEN with progress on all planned projects and quick progress on an unplanned project for two BMS applications.

  • Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19): There is a very low risk isk this programme may be impacted by any measures that are implemented to reduce impact from the spread of Covid-19. The risk is held at portfolio level.

There are five open programme risks in August:

  • MVM147: CLOSED - Project has delivered and closed
  • MVM148: AMBER - Unexpected re-purposing of Elsie Inglis has reduced teaching space
  • MVM151: GREEN - Project will deploy after the change freeze period
  • MVM152: GREEN - New unplanned project started to upgrade BMS applications. Development work completed and in peer review stage.

MVM148 Upgrading of teaching spaces 2021/22 RAG Status: AMBER

Achievements this period

  • AV installation work has begun in Vet School rooms G.36, G.49 and 2.35.
  • Engie/Equans have requested a 2 week period for carrying out work in Chancellor's Building lecture theatre A, followed immediately by a week for lecture theatre B (due to requiring scaffolding to be erected in each room).

Issues

  • A decision has been made (without any consultation with MVM IT) to convert seminar room 1 and the Elsie Inglis lab in Chancellor's Building into office space, reducing the amount of teaching space within the building.  Finding alternative space to reuse the equipment and furniture (for teaching purposes) from the Elsie Inglis lab is going to be extremely difficult.  This will be captured in the next teaching spaces upgrade project (22-23) but has had an impact on this project, as we funded additional equipment for both of these rooms this year, which has now been a waste.

Next Steps

  • Organise the most suitable time for the electrical work in the Chancellor's Building to be carried out.
  • Receive estimated installation dates from the AV contractors for the remaining work.

MVM151 Rotations Feedback RAG Status: GREEN

  • Automated account deletion to support data retention policy completed
  • Cron jobs to process feeds completed
  • Sign-off received from Vets to deploy

  • Missed change freeze deadline so will need to deploy after freeze

Projects outwith the MVM Portfolio Update

EEMeC and EEVeC

The programme has been and continues to complete projects to close down functionality on both EEMeC and EEVeC with a view to eventually decommissioning.  This work has to be completed before October 2023 when the technology in use is end-of-life and unsupported.

OCP004 CPD Platform - Requirements, Market Analysis and Business Case - RAG Status: GREEN

Achievements in this period

  • Meetings continuted with a number of key stakeholders to gather requirements and current concerns
  • Further supplier demos to understand the current market
  • Procurement Lead appointed
  • Workshop held with the project team to review individual requirements. 
  • Project Manager job interviews took place and a conditional offer made.

Next Steps

  • Schedule requirements workshops including a dedicated one with COL
  • Gather full projections on numbers of learners and courses to feed in to licence projections
  • Meet with final suppliers to understand the market
  • Confirm the financial position and approval route
  • Interviews for the Project Manager
  • Establish the procurement governance
