AMBER

Report by Colin Watt for August 2017

Achievements in Last Period

  • Outcomes of the discussions on Community of Practice are leading to consensus that the partners are now looking for a platform to store metadata about the livestock data that exists, rather than the datasets themselves.
  • A separate strand of work within SEBI is working on a partnership in Ethiopia and this is likely to provide data sets on livestock and interventions.
  • There have been changes in the SEBI project team, with new team members to be confirmed.
  • A reshaping of the milestones is now in progress but due to resource conflicts / SEBI team availability this has not yet been approved; milestones currently provisional.

Issues

  • No major issues, though ongoing discussion (SEBI Programme Managers, partners and .BMGF) have resulted in delays to defining some of the technical deliverables for each of the SEBI 1 and SEBI 2 strands.
  • SEBI team are having ongoing discussion with BMGF and the other partners on overall and immediate priorities; as a result the main input from IS Apps has been PM time until SEBI are able to define the data transformation processes required; PM is working with the SEBI team to define what is required and reshape the milestones; at present it is not anticipated that the budget estimate for IS Apps days will increase significantly, but the main technical outputs will now be in 17/18.

Next Steps

  • Define and agree scope changes with project team and sponsor for delivery of metadata and livestock datasets platforms.
  • Review budget and resourcing for potential strand of work with Ethiopia datasets.

Current RAG status is AMBER due to the need to revise the overall timeline due to the technical deliverables being pushed back.

Report by Jamie Thin for August 2017

Achievements in Last Period
  • Front-end Drupal 8 website changes delivered in TEST
  • Drupal 8 Web form created in TEST
  • Custom Drupal module delivered to integrate the Drupal web form to back-end MySQL database, and implemented in TEST
  • Web form handed over to Abby King for user testing in TEST
  • Dialogue started with Information Security team to seek advice for configuration of back-end database in LIVE
Issues
  • Need to agree if 'Encryption at rest' on MySQL database is a mandatory requirement
  • Need to agree minimum back-end database security requirements to get the new service LIVE by Mon 2-Oct 2017. Subject to ongoing funding being secured by the REACH project team , the backend database is expected to move to the new 'UoE data safe haven' in the future - so the current infrastructure will be an interim holding solution
Next Steps
  • Complete technical design for back-end database infrastructure
  • Build new MySQL process (instance) for LIVE
  • WGI to create new 'TEST' web front-end with snaphot copy from Live - for testing their Drupal 8 migration to new 'TEST' [Existing TEST will become new 'DEV' env]
  • WGI team to deploy their Drupal 8 changes to new 'TEST'
  • Deploy changes to LIVE infrastructure w/c 25/09/17 before Go-Live date for Registration form on Mon 2nd Oct 2017
  • Work on Data exports and workflows can follow the 2nd Oct go-live date - as that is work required to support the sharing of the data , and data needs to be collected first during Oct

Current RAG status is AMBER due to delay in planning.
