Section One: Programme Commentary, RAG and Resources Update

Commentary

Programme status: The overall status of the STU programme for May 2022 is AMBER due to Risk 14 noted below, delay in closing STU265 and postponement of go live on STU267.

Funding is also not yet confirmed for projects requested in 22/23.

Risks

Risk 14: AMBER - Unresolved issues on how to replace legacy UG & PG Degree Finder application - issue escalated to USG and ISG senior leadership team. Current UG & PG  Degree finder tech stack is legacy end-of-life code , and will get very difficult to make any substantial changes going forward,  if there are any external statutory drivers for change

Project Highlights

  • STU265: AMBER - Closure is pending completion of decommissioning work.
  • STU267: RED - Integration with Cloud storage not yet fully working which has postponed Go Live and has delayed arranging pen testing. Project has been impacted this month with projects manager's absence with Covid.

Achievements this period

  • UAT largely completed
  • EUCLID feed has progressed but is not completed. However the issue with the WS02 connector to S£ storage bucket has been resolved
  • Deployment checklists allocated to project

Issues

  • New issue with performance of file transfer related to Load Balance
  • Pen testing dates not secured for 13th June as TEST environment not ready; supplier has requested meeting with external pen testers
  • PM on unplanned sick leave with Covid meant communications were challenging about cancelling go-live and what is required to reach an agreed go live date
  • There may be an increased project and supplier cost if issues are not straighforward to resolve

Next steps

  • Users to complete UAT of cloud service
  • EUCLID feed development completed and TEST approved as ready
  • Pen testing completed
  • Communications for move to cloud service to be issued
  • Handover to production management and deployment checklists completed
