As with all activities at the university the initial focus has been on making sure all stakeholders are comfortable with remote working and how meetings/communications will work as we progress.
We completed analysis of the data gained from our Student Teaching Space Survey and as per the plan will work with Stakeholders to identify and progress the student experience ‘quick wins’ that are clearly established.
The project team have also been engaged with Covid-19 response planning.
Risks or issues
Students will most likely not be on campus for some or all of the next academic year.
Next month.
The project team with the support of the Steering Group will identify and begin to action student experience ‘quick wins’.
The team will continue to adapt our plans as the Covid19 situation changes. We will look at our revised planning for 20/21. We anticipate funding needs of 120k rather than the original 200k due to students not being on campus during semester 1.

As with all projects we have been examining our plans in light of the pandemic. We have compiled our Covid-19 response report for the Student Experience Action Plan (StEAP) Board.
We reported that all plan for equipment purchase and room designs are in place.
With the potential move to a more hybrid teaching model in September 2020, the need to invest in these spaces is now more urgent. Social distancing will require more spaces for for any potential on campus students to work away from each other, and importantly for academic colleagues to be able to record and stream their teaching from labs. These spaces have not had the level of investment required to enable any of the social distancing or hybrid teaching models currently under consideration for when teaching resumes.
Risks or issues
There are obvious risks and uncertainty around the pandemic and about safe access to the campus for installations and equipment storage.
Next month.
We expect our timetable will become clearer in the coming months.
