Programme Commentary

This has been an other excellent month for the programme with the next migration phase starting successfully. EdWeb development continues with work on the next release due out at the end of May.

The programme remains on schedule to deliver 1055 days this year, the RAG status is GREEN.

  • Iteration 19 completed
  • Release 3 successfully deployed to LIVE
  • Iteration 20 completed
  • Wunderroot delivered Theming for Event Content type
  • Additional Developer Agnes Gajda joined project team

Issues

  • Graphic Design Lead resource removed for most of March and uncertainly around this role post May (Risk 16)

Achievements in Last Period

  • Release 3 - 38 JIRAS raised with 28 resolved and tested, 10 remain to be resolved of which 6 have been prioritised as 'must haves'
  • Release 3 – 3 Sites are now LIVE – total number of sites migrated 18
  • Release 3 – 19 sites being updated by the editorial teams / site owners being prepared for URL switch
  • Release 3 – 32 sites being prepared for STAGING
  • Handover completed for migration coordinator tasks
  • UAT VM Build ready for bamboo deployment plan to be completed
  • Release 4 – initial communication issued out to site owners in preparation for release 4 commencing on 01/06
  • Project now has a priority 1 status following IS Apps WIS approval

Issues

  • Availability of Tech Man and App Man resource has delayed URL Switch activity by 1 day for next set of sites going live , all site owners have been advised of delay
  • Review of future release site numbers raised with Tech Management who have raised concerns of time talen to complete work especially around use of blacklist / white list processes  and procedures created for VARNISH handover work via UWP006. The team have advised that the current procress increases risk to URL switching and more time taken for change process. Agreement to review release 3 experience in 3 weeks time.
  • Also scheduled a meeting with Head of Production Management how best to manage increased numbers coming through in release 4 and 5 and options to resource for project via Tech Man team or Dev Tech team, including an impact on sites going live during change freeze period and not just over start of new Semester in September.
  • PICCL raised to update changes to milestones was not approved by Production Management via WIS process due to concerns raised around Release 4 dates this is to be reviewed with David Smyth

Next Steps

  • Resolution of remaining 'must have' JIRAs
  • Continuing migration via STAGING and LIVE for Release 3
  • Agreement of VARNISH tasks and allocation of future resource
  • On-going preparations for Release 4 activity
  • Complete work on UAT VM
  • Review project budget
