AP12 040

The annual HESA and SFC returns are statutory and key to UoE obtaining funding from bodies such as SFC.

This project will incorporate Student Funding Council (SFC), Teaching Load (TL) and Student HESA Returns for 2011-12, all under AP12-040. STU211 will run from September 2011 until December 2012. (The OLL HESA Return will be handled by another project under AP12-038 OLL HESA 11-12 and will run for a much shorter time-scale.)

This Project has been allocated 80 days in annual planning to cover the Statutory Returns

SAAS have introduced a requirement for HEIs to confirm student attendance and to notify SAAS of Changes in Circumstances via file interaction.  SAAS’s requirements were finalised late and have flaws. SAAS has subsequently confirmed that HEIs can phase implementation – student attendance and withdrawals must be notified via the file process for 11/12, change of circumstances for 12/13.

The Oracle SOA suite was chosen as one of our key enabling technologies for enterprise application integration and developing agile business processes. Currently, several key applications have been developed on the Oracle SOA 10g suite, including the new Identity Management system (IDM) and Infinite. Oracle released a major new version of SOA, 11g and the final 10g development release was issued in September 2009.

This project is to upgrade the existing Oracle database owned by the University Web Site Team, POLO, from Oracle 9.2 to 10.2.

The current version of the Oracle POLO DEV, TEST and LIVE databases is 9.2. Oracle 9.2 is past its Extended Support date. The three POLO databases should be upgraded to lower the cost to the University, to mitigate security issues and to enable the business owner to take advantage of new features which IS have currently implemented (SOA) and which IS will implement in the future.
