Project Summary:

   Objectives

The objectives of the project were to upgrade the version of Core Archibus used within Estates and Buildings to version 19.3.This will provide new functionality but the primary motivation is that it is compatible with Windows 7, the new university Windows standard workstation version. Additionally, the database version will be upgraded from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. The AutoCAD package used by the drawing office space managers was also upgraded in line with the latest version to run on Windows 7.

The Distance Education Initiative (DEI) programme will develop high quality Online Distance Learning (ODL) postgraduate programmes for a significant student cohort, and provide a high quality and flexible approach to study off campus.

Currently, the card application process is entirely paper-based. Paper forms are sent to the students’ home address. Students check their details, add a photo to the form and then return it to the University. Card Services print all the cards in bulk over the summer, and students collect their card at the start of semester.

This project will design Change & Release processes within UniDesk. These will be common processes for all the UniDesk institutions, and will be based on best practise within the ITIL Framework.

This project implements the new Learn software from supplier Blackboard that replaces WebCT, the universities centrally supported VLE.
