Work/Task Breakdown

The tasks are derived straightforwardly from the deliverables.

• A TAD and Operations Document for the Bamboo implementation - Dev Tech (2/3/4 days)
• Implementation of Bamboo version 4 - Dev Tech (3/4/6 days), Dev Team (1 day)
• A pre-production environment for Bamboo, matching the production environment - Dev Tech (3/4/6 days), Dev Team (1 day)
• Agreed support processes for the Bamboo system, both production and pre-production (e.g. who looks after the servers) - Management (0.5 days)
• Agreed support procedures for users of the new system (e.g. help and advice) - Management (0.5 days)
• A method or tool that enables Production Management to see which versions of each application have been deployed on each environment - Dev Team, Dev Tech and Apps Mgmt (3 days)
• Documentation for developers (the principles behind the generic plans, and how to configure them) - Dev Team (3 days, including review)
• Document procedure for how to use the new system - Dev Team (2 days, including review)
• Training for use of the new system - Dev Team & Apps Mgmt (5 days, basically a one-hour workshop for everyone in these teams)
• Agreed updates to the project methodology to enable and take advantage of the new system (e.g. creation of all environments at the same time) - Management (2 days)
• Modification of access rights so that all deployment or migrated applications must use the continuous integration system - Dev Tech (1/1/2 days)
• Project Management - 3 days
• Post-deployment support - 2 days

Resources Skills and Cost

Resources: The review, documentation and process changes will require input from Software Development, Development Technology, Applications Management and possibly Technology Management. The development work will be led by 1 analyst/developer from Software Development. The TAD and the build of the environments will be led by 1 DBA/SysAdmin from Development Technology. The project will require 45 days, including 5 days contingency.

Costs: $400/year software licence for Bamboo. ??/year for two virtual servers.
