Data-Driven Decision Support in tourism, culture and hospitality

This project will support the restart, recovery and adaptation of Edinburgh’s tourism industry through data-driven decision support.

We will do this by developing a service (interface or visualisation) that equips city centre businesses with specific data-driven insights on upcoming visitor demand and profile. This information will be made openly available to tourism, culture and hospitality SMEs to more confidently make strategic, operational and marketing decisions. We anticipate that visitor forecasts will be targeted at short-term (1-week) and medium-term (3 months) time horizons.

The project will act as a feasibility study or pilot for potential collaboration with the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Visit Scotland for the development of Scottish Tourism Data Observatory.
