Adding a door to the current door management service is costly, requires multiple hardware and software tasks and can take an overly long time to complete. This project will investigate how adding doors which require access to be controlled might be made cheaper and more dynamic.

The solution, once approved, will be installed as a proof-of-concept (PoC) in one area of SPSS and the impact on cost, time, admin overheads, scalability and user satisfaction will be assessed.

The PoC solution will be integrated with existing components of the door management service (CCURE, Hagrid) and with the existing university card. Access to bookable rooms will be managed by local administrative staff, to whom training will be provided if required.
