Background

The University currently uses the document management system eIntranet supplied by Serengeti Systems to store and retrieve document for Finance and Estates. The version in service is version 5.5. The current version of Serengeti software is end of life in July 2013. The underlying Oracle database is also unsupported at this time, although extended support for the application is available for a maximum of one year. This project will upgrade the latest version of Serengeti eIntranet, in addition the project will move the service onto the new Oracle infrastructure and migrate to Oracle 11g.

Scope

The scope of this project is the upgrade of DEV, TEST and LIVE environments to the latest version of eIntranet. The new version of eIntranet also offers a Microsoft Office plug in. This is a client application that integrates with eIntranet. The project will make this available to Service Management on DEV and TEST for evaluation. The main objective of this project is to bring the version of eIntranet onto a supported version. It is also expected that improvements in the UI will make the service easier for Service Management to promote across the University. There is specific customisation for integration with Estates and Finance systems. Testing these different integrations will be within the project's scope. This testing will be coordinated by Service Management.
