As Universities increasingly compete for high quality students and reduced funding for research clear visibility  of costs and performance are more important than ever. An information led decison making culture is seen as essential if the institute is to continue to compete with the best. The Knowledge Strategy Committee recommended that the University carries out a needs analysis to assess our preparedness to make more informed business decisions.   Deloitte have been commissioned to undertake a Business Intelligence (BI) / Management Information (MI) Needs Analysis for the University. This project will deliver the initial Discovery phase. The key deliverable of the project will be a report providing a technology agnostic assessment of the business intelligence / management information requirements of Colleges, Schools and, to a lesser extent, the three Support Groups about their core business.  Depending on the report recommendations and their assessment by the steering group chaired by Prof D Miell further work may be undertaken to develop an implementation plan and take the plan through to delivery of new services. The project will be led by experienced BI consulting staff from Deloitte augmented and supported by specialist staff from IS Applications. The collaborative Deloitte / University of Edinburgh team will be based on site.

N.B. this project was started before the move to the new projects website, so documentation is only shown from 6th August 2012.   Documentation prior to this can be found on the old site at
