The project is aimed at improving the return on the existing investment in Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting solutions within the College of Science and Engineering.

The scope of the project at proposal stage was identified as:

  • Identifying services available both transaction and warehouse/BI solutions
  • Reviewing existing Business Objects (BOXI) universe design and documentation
  • Providing additional training for key users in the College
  • Developing additional reports to meet College requirements
  • Improving help and support resources

In initiating this project, the College has now clarified that the highest priority for this project is to produce an inventory of the current Central and college wide MI systems: where is the data, what does it mean, who owns it, how do I access it? In providing this inventory, the College can then determine if there are any data or access gaps which need addressed, although this further work is potentially out of the scope of this project.

Given that this project is funded by the College's Ring-Fenced days, and the project must close on August 2, the College has requested that the project looks at HR information in the first instance and once the prototype for the inventory has been approved, to then proceed with producing an inventory for student information and Finance information, in that order.
