Overview
Background
The University is currently running an outdated version of Grouper (v.2.2) and as part of compliance this needs to be upgraded to v.2.3.0.
Scope
The scope of this project is limited to upgrading the currently active version of Grouper to the latest published release.
DEV/TEST and LIVE environments should be upgraded
Communications to downstream service owners
COM038, IDM SOA replacement, project could impact the delivery of the Grouper Upgrade. However in discussions this is thought to be unlikely, and that COM038 will sequentially follow this project
Objectives
The objective of this project is to ensure that the existing version of Grouper utilised within the University is upgraded to version 2.3.0.
A viable communications strategy to be produced.
Evaluate and leverage the benefits of new functionality where this relates to core service activity

Benefits
That the University will be on the latest version of Grouper
New Features in Grouper 2.3 include:
- Provisioning Service Provider Next Generation (PSPNG) - addresses performance problems and configuration complexity of the Provisioning Service Provider (PSP)
- Grouper Loader improvements including scheduling configuration to facilitate high-availability changes and, handling unresolvable subjects
- New Web Service operations for attribute definitions, actions, and messaging
- Grouper messaging system with integration to the change log and ESB
- UI screens for attribute definitions and inherited privileges
- Export to GSH - allows export of Grouper objects to a Grouper Shell (GSH) script
- Folder privileges have been changed to be “admin” and “create” instead of “stem” and “create)
- TIER API “hasMember” operation implemented in the Grouper web services module to support integration and interoperability
