Overview
Background
This project is part of an annual upgrade of the Serengeti Application / Database work.
The overall intention is to keep software up-to-date and to ensure it remains supported. Contrary to previous upgrades, this time it will not involve application upgrades or any major development tasks.
What is required is the migration /upgrade of the Serengeti databases to new 12c Oracle databases on existing Oracle 12c servers.
Serengeti is used to retain electronic copies documents where the purchase orders are generated and printed in eFinancials and the invoice is sent to Corporate Finance by the supplier.
Serengeti is also used by Estates Finance Control This project will move the database over to Oracle 12c (as Oracle 11G will be out of support)
Work must be carried out with a view to the business calendars of Finance and Estates Finance Control
This database migrations affects all users of Serengeti : Finance and Estates Finance Control
Scope
The priorities are as follows:
The requirements are the migration /upgrade of the Serengeti databases to new 12c Oracle databases on the existing Oracle 12c servers.
Oracle 12 upgrade
- Upgrade Oracle 11G to Oracle 12C (Must Have)
Out of Scope :
Required Serengeti application versions have been confirmed and the version incompatibility has been resolved : see below
- Supplier has confirmed that the Oracle 12C database upgrade requires that the Serengeti software be running at version 6.13.
- Upgrade to version 6.13 is already under way via Production patching. It has already been deployed and tested on Dev and Test environments and is due to be deployed to Live by February 2019.

Success Criteria
- Serengeti databases on Dev, Test and Live have been successfully migrated and upgraded to Oracle 12 (Must Have)
- The software maintains its current working condition and causes minimal disruption during the upgrade
- That the Serengeti application works as expected
