Overview

Background

This project is needed: 

  • To ensure continued system stability by deploying recent stable release  

  • To make use of enhanced functionality of the update  

DOCS databases are already moved to dedicated VMs as part of INF149.  Upgrade must be scheduled to ensure readiness. Current Application servers are RedHat 7, which reaches EOL in June 2024.  Due to the cost of Red Hat licences we are moving away from this OS unless vendors list it as a support requirement. Work must be carried out with a view to the business calendars of Finance and E&B. THe upgrades are being carried out by the vendor, with in-house support from Technology Management and Applications Management.

 

Scope

The scope of this project includes the following:

  • Working with the vendor (Netcall) to establish suitable dates for the upgrades to DEV, TEST and LIVE
  • Making the necessary arrangements to permit vendor access to our environments so that the upgrades can be inplemented
  • Working with the vendor to upgrade Serengei in DEV, TEST and LIVE
  • Integration testing of the upgraded TEST environment
  • Supporting UAT of the upgraded TEST environment
  • Fully testing and analysing the upgraded environments

Out of scope

Testing the upgrade on scanner stations as these are no longer in use
