The project follows on from the Proof of Concept project (DTP007) in which investigated and tested the technology components required to implement a supported desktop service for Apple Macintosh (Mac) computers.
This project will:
Introduce a supported Mac desktop service equivalent to the supported Windows desktop service.
Produce a specification and workflow for purchase and deployment of a ‘SelectMac’ (leveraging the Apple Device Enrolment Programme) along the same principles as the SelectPC specification
Provide and demonstrate a method to migrate existing managed Mac computers from the existing configuration management system (LCFG) to the new service.
Provide and demonstrate a workflow to enrol newly purchased "out of the box" Mac computers with the new service.
Provide and demonstrate a workflow to enrol existing unmanaged Mac computers with the new service.
The project team's week to week planning and working documents are stored and maintained in the projects's SharePoint site.
