The central purpose of this project is the procurement of a replacement Storage Area Network (SAN) solution for the University of Edinburgh. The current SAN was procured in 2012 and is due to reach the end its current 'life' in mid-2017, though the support arrangements will be extended to cover the period in which the solution that is chosen under this project is deployed.

It is anticipated that this project will encompass choosing the best procurement approach; consulting all the stakeholders in order to put together a comprehensive set of requirements; going to market to select the best option for the University; working with the selected vendors on plans for the deployment of the new SAN, and the development and testing of a migration strategy.

There will be a follow-on project to migrate content to the replacement SAN.
