Detail the differences between both versions? | Anne | AM Y | 30/01/13 | Email sent to Dynamt 30.01.13 Gawain, reply received immediately Most of the effort that went into this version of DYNAMATplus was bug fixing, as the focus of new enhancements is on the release of the next generation of Web based DYNAMATweb (now in Alpha release). Functionally the two versions of DYNAMATplus that you have are similar, there is no advantage to reusing the older version and there is not a compelling reason to upgrade immediately to the new version unless one of your users has a problem. If you are moving the database and download & import jobs to a new Virtual Server and you want to access the server from existing PC's running the old version of the software then we would suggest that you upgrade to the new version of DYNAMATplus either beforehand, or after you are happy that your new Virtual server has settled down. The upgrade of the DYNAMATplus software is straightforward, only one customer has had a problem and that was because they forgot to upgrade all of their user's PCs at the same time. Application home directories. We recommend that you do not install DYNAMATplus or DBIPGet into the 'c:\Program files' or 'c:\Program files (x86)' folder on any Windows Operating System later than Windows XP / Windows Server 2003. The reason is the introduction of UAC from Windows Vista onwards which complicates the file and folder permissions in 'Program files', and you can end up with two versions of the same file in two locations with a different one being visible depending on how you access it (for example one version of a configuration file being visible from Windows Explorer and another version of the same file being visible from the DOS command prompt). We strongly recommend installing DYNAMATplus and DBIPGet into their own folders outside 'Program files'. Section 4. Application Server Requirements. Additional dependencies. We do not think that you are still using Lantronix. |
