Migration of the stand-alone desktop Trend 963 BEMS application to an IS virtual environment
May include reference/link to context statement where appropriate. The Trend 963 BEMS system controls and monitors the heating, cooling and ventilation systems for a large portion of the university, including critical installations within animal research labs and holding areas, category 3 labs. It also relays alarms to Security from these critical areas and sends automatic daily environmental charts to Lab Managers to ensure that strict Home Office requirements are being maintained. There are currently no automatic backup or disaster recovery facilities for this server – both events requiring time consuming manual intervention from the resident Control Systems Engineers who manage the systems. This project would provide a more robust and resilient system through automatic backups and the ability to transfer within the IS infrastructure in the event of potential disaster
