Meeting - Design Stage - 30-Jan-2013
Present: Manya Buchan, Susan McLaren, Debbie Kilgallon, Alyson Shaw, Jill Nicoll
Please refer back to the numbering of new/changed fields in the 9th January meeting note.
A. PURE elements:
Three of the new data elements are PURE-related:
7. ERCSTAT - Early career research researcher status
The extract from HR will default this field to 2.
Manya will provide a csv file, containing only those staff members who are early career researchers. The file will contain employee number and "1". This will be uploaded to the HR HESA Person table, overwriting the default value.
13. REFUOA2014 - REF Unit of assessment
This field is not required for the 2012-13 HESA return. No action will therefore be taken this year.
15. RESAST - Research assistant
The extract from HR will default this field to 0.
Source data for this field is not available from PURE. However, there are over 1000 research assistants. Manya will survey schools for this data. It will not be added to PURE or to HR. Rather, Manya will provide a csv file, containing only those staff members who are research assistants. The file will contain employee number and "1". This will be uploaded to the HR HESA Person table, overwriting the default value.
The project team requested draft versions of the two csv files for early March, so thay can be included in the Development stage.
One of the changed requirements may also be partially related to PURE:
5. CURACCDIS - Current academic discipline (as JACS Code)
This is required for both Research and non-Research academic staff. However, there is no single data source that could provide this information for all academic members of staff.
PURE includes a REF Unit of Assessment, held as a Cost Centre. Manya thinks that Jim Galbraith may be working on a mapping from Cost Centre to JACS Code. Jill to follow up with Jim.
Manya thinks that Teaching Load might hold a JACS code for teaching qualification, and that this might go down to an individual's level. Jill to follow up with Helen Stocks.
Supervisors in EUCLID also have an RAE Unit of Assessment.
B. Review of Actions from previous meetings:
- Jira HRS071-1: 5. CURACCDIS - Current academic discipline
See above
Jira HRS071-2: 12. PARLEAVE - Parental Leave
Confirmed and Jira closed, 28-Jan-2013
Jira HRS071-3: 18. LEVELS - Contract levels
This will be a two-step process:
Susan will provide logic to be applied to all staff, in the extract process. This will be based on Job Segment 2 and Grades. Target date for logic = mid-February.
Susan will survey Senior staff. The survey results will be provided as a csv file. This will then be uploaded to the HESA tables, to overwrite the extracted values for these members only.
Jira HRS071-4: 20. MOEMP - Mode of employment
Add new value: 6 - Dormant
Subsequently changed to no action required, and Jira closed.
Jira HRS071-5: Add new field(s) to eRecruitment; arrange with CORE to add to views
ACTCHQUAL * 6 to be added. Susan confirmed 11th Feb target date for these to be available in the Development environment.
Jira HRS071-6: Prepare more detailed test scripts for UAT Test Plan
Ongoing
Jira HRS071-8: confirm which value(s) of ACTSOC - provide fields(s) that should now be used in all SOC = 2A selections
Alyson to provide list of fields using the 2A selection criterion.
