Decommissioning project completed
We recently closed project INF105 which had been running for the past two years. This covered the identification, co-ordination and planning around server technology on the University's network that was deemed as obsolete (end of life) and that needed to be removed from our server estate. Some work also covered the migrations of some applications and databases that were not included in other projects. The project covered the decommissioning of approximately 70 servers, encompassing Solaris, RedHat and Windows machines. There are still some servers to be finalised and these have moved into the new infrastructure rationalistion project, which is planned to recur annually now, building on and making use of the valuable experience gathered during INF105.
