The online survey was submitted for approval to the Student Surveys team at the end of April.
The student intern (Project Assistant) started work on the project on 2nd May. The Project Assistant has primarily been working on the content and delivery of the student Focus Groups.
The online survey has been distributed to Academic Staff via the Academic Support Librarians. 83 individuals have responded to the survey to date.
The first student focus group took place on 31st May, with nine student participants representing a range of academic disciplines and levels of study.
The second student focus group is scheduled for 7th June, with nine students scheduled to attend.
Six student usability testing sessions have been scheduled for mid-June.
Student participants for the focus groups and usability testing sessions have been recruited via MyCareerHub.
On 4th June we were informed by the Student Surveys Unit that the Ethics Committee has denied permission to distribute the online survey to students by any method. This has a major impact on the original scope of the project, as it is no longer possible to collect survey data from one of the main target groups.
The original intention was to use the online survey to recruit student participants for the focus groups and usability testing. The delay in waiting for approval for the survey to be distributed meant that alternative methods of recruiting students had to be found. 24 students have been recruited via MyCareerHub and each will be paid £20 for taking part. This does not impact on the overall budget for the project because of the underspend resulting from the delay in the student intern taking up post.
Process the data gathered during the two student focus groups.
Carry out the student usability testing sessions.
Process the online survey data collected from Academic Staff.
Start work on the project report.
