This project is priority number 1 in the Infrastructure Programme for 2012-13, and has an overall priority rating of 1.

The project is core grant-funded.

Impact and Dependencies

This project will construct the new database infrastructure, and develop the processes and procedures that will allow future migrations to be undertaken, but aside from the exemplar database it will not be responsible for the migration of any other current databases. The new infrastructure will not impact on the current environment until the exemplar migration takes place and removes the selected database to the new infrastructure.

Dependant on the investigative findings regarding the  benefits or otherwise relating to virtualisation, there may be the need to review and  in turn adjsut the project estimate where appropriate.

This project is also dependant on the relevant ITI resources being available.
