This project is to resolve an problem when the Library team currently run scripts which load visitor patron records into Alma from Visitor (VRS). Only records which have had ‘Library feed’ ticked by the VRS administrator registering the patron are loaded, sometimes people who should be marked for ‘Library feed’ are not. E.g. Official visitors; visiting members of staff.

This leads to problems when the official visitor is also an instructor on a taught course.  We are not able to edit the VRS record in order to trigger a download to the library and we need their patron record to be included in the download so that they have access to create Resource Lists for course reading.

Currently there is a workaround whereby the library team / helpdesk team are having to manually add these patron records to Alma. Or – get in touch with the person who added the record to VRS and ask them to amend. Neither is a good solution as this leads to a mismatch in data on VRS and Library for the same patron.

By having this information available will provide the opportunity to encourage all members of the teaching staff to create Resource Lists for their students. Giving a more consistent student experience for core reading information. And wider uptake of the Resource List service.
