Recruit a team of Student Digital Ambassadors to promote the digital resources available to students at the University of Edinburgh, and work towards making sure every student is a digital student (a key part of both the ISG Strategic Vision and UoE Strategic Vision 2025). There will be three ambassadors working together, one for each College - CSE, CMVM and CAHSS. Through research into the digital skills requirements of students this summer, it has been discovered that the Digital Skills and Training team already provides many of the resources students are asking for - the main issue is that there is a huge lack of awareness. A team of Ambassadors would be able to combat this, and remove the burden of doing so from the Digital Skills and Training team, so they could continue to focus on courses, training and Lynda.com.
The main responsibilities of the Ambassadors would be to:
a) Run a weekly library stall rotated through the various Uni libraries to promote awareness ("Awareness Sessions")
b) Designated hours in office to work on promotion, such as contacting academics in their college about including more digital resources in their course/raising academic awareness of using Lynda.com as an academic resource
c) Plan for events throughout the year (e.g. could run events during the Festival of Creative Learning)
Working seven hours per week, the students could spend 2 - 3 hours promoting digital skills in the library, and 4 - 5 hours in office, focusing on planning and contacting academics or class representatives. This could be implemented in October 2018 as a trial run for two semesters, finishing at the end of May 2019 (35 weeks including holiday periods).
