  • Researching Blockchains and applications in the education sector.
  • Analysis of different implementations and approaches.
  • Selection of Blockcerts as the most mature and viable at the moment.
  • Familiarisation with the Blockcerts code and how to use it to issue certificates.
  • Identifying relevant vs. deprecated code and finding information about current process from forum.
  • Creating a diagram visualizing the process from multiple perspectives (university, student, employer).
  • Creating a repository containing only relevant code.
  • Adding functionality to create a HTML document for correctly displaying the certificate.
  • Customising the configuration files for our specific application.
  • Extensive documentation and guide to configuring and setting up to issue certificates.

Key Learning Points

The standard is still evolving, probably will not settle for a while (at least until DIDs decentralize issuer identification and revocation is also somehow decentralized).

  • Some steps (detailed in the wiki) still required for completing the setup.
  • If these steps are completed then we could issue certificates, but some issues still remain to be considered (privacy/GDPR etc.).
