As part of the preparation for the University Collections facility, work on appraising  and consolidation of archive collections has begun with the at risk film collections.  This is being undertaken with a commerical firm IMetaFilm Ltd using unqiue, innovation technology to capture the film to allow decisions on appraisal of the collection and full digitisation to make the films accessible for students and staff. The aim is to reduce the space occupied by this collection, preserve it correctly and make it a unique resource for teaching, learning and creative output by the University.
