Priority and Funding

Community Connector: At Home with Heritage project has been funded through a Museums Galleries Scotland COVID Museums Development award.

This grant will deliver a project that ensures this sector service improvement work takes place in a timely way, affording a more immediate response to this community need, as it grows. It will play a significant part in supporting our organisation’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and will afford a more immediate opportunity to test, improve and build on a new engagement method. This work is in line with the priority aims and objectives of the University’s Library and University Collections Strategic Plan, supports the City of Edinburgh Council's evolving Health and Social Care Partnership Strategic Plan Vision, 'To deliver together a caring, healthier and safer Edinburgh' and supports the University Museums in Scotland Strategic Plan. Vitally, this project will be a step towards underwriting future funding for further growth and support of this new engagement method from trusts, foundations and other public funding bodies in the health and care sector. These funding applications will be developed, jointly, with some of the lead stakeholder relationship brokered and/or nurtured through this Community Connector: At Home with Heritage project. Thereby diversifying income streams for the organisation. In addition, we will learn from a Place Principle approach focus on health and care engagement and transfer this project learning and experience to our other civic engagement priorities, such as Widening Participation to Learning, Skills Development and Career Pathways.
