Digital Library Infrastructure Expansion

LUC071 has been designated as the project which will determine the spending of any money ringfenced for the purpose of procuring storage for digitization activities within L&UC. It has been identified that substantially more storage capacity will be needed to satisfy the functional requirements in the activities of digitization and its resultant discovery and preservation. I have focused on images here: there will be some 3D, Audio and Video to assess along the way too.

This Project is intended simply to, at a high level, establish a dialogue with ITI to:

  1. allow ITI to see what we are doing and how we are doing it

  1. allow ITI to advise us as to the right path, rather than us dictating to them.

  2.

It details only the functional workflow of our digitisation activities, and a very high-level estimate over where the storage requirement might be heading.

We would like to use this as a starting point for discussion and will treat this as a living document which we will change as we proceed.
