To attach appropriate open licenses to MOOC footage and make it available for reuse inside and outwith  the institution for free via MediaHopper.

1. Opening up and curating existing media footage

The media team have developed a vast amount of rich media resources in the past four years in the process of developing MOOC courses. Much of it is currently sitting in archives and unavailable for reuse by staff and students. This project is an opportunity to make a significant proportion of this material openly licensed and work with academic course teams to ensure its re-use with appropriate metadata and standards.

2. Engagement with the archive in media use

Related to strand one would be to work within the Open Education team to add to our a programme of staff development activities opportunities to engage with the openly licensed materials and develop digital skills in media re-use. Identify contexts in which media footage might be used and work with staff and students to make effective use of media available and the pedagogies and digital/media literacies required to make effective and sustainable use of the resources.
