Background
The University of Edinburgh (UoE) lease their premises to tenant organizations. Lease contracts are used as the legal binding document to stipulate the terms and conditions associated with the tenant’s use of leased space. These contracts are prepared by the UoE Estates and Buildings department and may be adjusted to include local conditions as specified by the business unit aligned to the lease.
Within the “Tenant Rights” section of a standard tenancy lease contract, there are terms to cover the provision of certain services to the tenant by the University as the Landlord. Whilst the provision of IT is included within this section, the details are either outdated, unambiguous or not approved by the current UoE Information Services (IS) groups who provide these services.
