Overview

Background

The Simulated Patient and EPPSAT databases have been is use in the current guise for at least 10 years, so an analysis of their functions and design needs to be carried out.  Once the analysis has been completed, the systems will be redesigned and built in a system that can be supported and maintained by more than just one individual in the CMVM IT team.  The data contained within the databases does include some 'protected' information, so this needs to be considered carefully when designing and building the new databases.

Scope

This project will:

  1. Carry out an analysis of the current data types and the functions required.
  2. Develop a new database system that can be used by the department.
  3. Complete GDPR requirements for the new systems.
  4. Migrate data from existing databases into the new database systems.

Out of scope

To be confirmed once analysis has been carried out.

Objectives and Deliverables

Complete analysis of current data types and functions.

Develop new database systems.

Complete DPIA and EQIA for database systems.

Migrate existing data into new database systems.

Benefits

New database systems will be supported by more than one member of the CMVM IT team.  Existing database users will have increased confidence that the systems will be built on up-to-date infrastructure.  Depending on the outcomes of the analysis, the admin overhead associated with the current systems should decrease.

Success Criteria

Two new database systems that will provide the necessary functionality for the day-to-day management of simulated patient and EPPSAT participant information.
