Impact

Priority and Funding

This is a discretionary, sponsor-funded project. It is a priority 2 (high) project.

Impact and Dependencies

This project is not expected to directly impact on any other IS Applications projects or services. It is being undertaken at a time when resources are usually tight, especially for the build of the infrastructure. It is also a period when resources are stretched across other teams involved in the project such as the IS USD team at the Easter Bush Campus who provide operational support to Vet School staff, who IS Apps teams will be working with.

The aim is to have the infrastructure in a position where it can be sustained beyond the life of the current 3 year BMGF funding; the short/medium term intention is for standard components to be handed over to Production Management and enable Service Management to add Tableau expertise to their portfolio. In the immediate term, Iain Fiddes has offered for Development Technology to run the service including operational management of the components, including upgrades and patches to Tableau, initially working with Tableau consultants to do this; IS Apps Section Heads have agreed this approach and have costed it based on the standard daily rate for funded work - this arrangement has been agreed with the Project Sponsor.
