Resources Skills and Cost

This project requires collaborative working across several areas of Information Services, the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine and Procurement Services, as well as close working with the software supplier (Tableau). There is expected to be a significant element of interaction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) who are funding the SEBI programme of work.

Project Services in IS Applications will undertake the management and planning of the project, including resourcing and the preparation of estimates. Project Services will also assit with drafting the EqIA if required.

Development Technology will work on the database infrastructure and deployment of the authentication mechanisms for Tableau. IS Applications Development Services Manager has offered for the Development Technology team to take on responsibility for building and running the service in order that the infrastructure and applications be managed in a standard sustainable way, on the basis that this will be an additional cost to the project (currently estimated at 40-50 days per year), on the understanding that this arrangement be reviewed, and the operational management of the components and software upgrades be handed over to other IS Applications teams in due course when this can be transitioned smoothly. IS Apps Service Management (not chargeable) are expected to have a role providing expertise in Business Intelligence, and in Identity Management, although not at the initial stage of the project.

The estimated effort for IS Applications staff is 110 days.

For the running of the service by Development Technology, an annual cost of 40-50 days has been estimated. The Project Sponsor has agreed to fund this in addition to the project effort.
