This project is seeking market research related to online learning, digital credentials and online CPD courses. The University of Edinburgh (UoE) wants to better understand what learners are looking for in CPD online courses, which providers they consider, and whether they will seriously consider the UoE for such courses. Long-term, UoE wants to increase awareness amongst prospective online learners of the University as a leading UK-based provider of online CPD courses.

The project has the following research objectives:

  • Learners - Understand more about what learners are looking for in online CPD courses in terms of qualifications, certificates, credit and comfort with cost. Understand more about which course providers learners consider when searching for online CPD courses

  • Competitors - Gain insights into how other UK providers of online CPD position themselves and how the University of Edinburgh compares so that we can reposition our own marketing website to compete in this marketplace

  • Industry - Has the online learning market and marketplace changed in the last 2 years because of the pandemic?
