Impact and Dependencies

The introduction of a new VLE will impact all ESSQ MSc in Surgical Sciences students as well as teaching and support staff. The current VLE is a familiar environment and although there are clear benefits to adopting Learn, the change effort involved should be acknowledged.

There are a number of systems connected to the existing eeSurg VLE that may not be supported in the longer term, and new links to these systems may have to be established as part of the project.

The ESSQ programme includes a number of related qualifications and discussions around migrating these to Blackboard Learn are in progress. The related qualifications are ChM General Surgery, ChM Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, ChM Trauma & Orthopaedics, ChM Urology, MSc Primary Care Ophthalmology, ChM Clinical Ophthalmology and the new MSc Patient Safety. Some coordination of work will be required to ensure a consistent approach.
